Family Portraits
Like the cameras and devices photographers use, portraiture styles and group portraits have evolved from stereotypical and heavily-lit studio portraits into truly dynamic works of art. A single picture, so they say, is worth a thousand words, David Simm has always relied on displays of his work as far back as the 1960s when he was the only studio in town with images larger than 24" x 20" on display.
From his early days using large format plate cameras with black & white film, David Simm pioneered his way though roll film to digital capture in a career spanning more than half a century, but more significantly, being on the leading edge of creating group portraits that come to life and command as much attention on your wall as any fine work of art.
During the 1990's the studio, on Glenview Road had a 1200 sq. ft. camera room set up for family portraits, but by 1999 the overwhelming majority of family groups were captured at client's homes or on location in parks, gardens and forest preserve, so a conscious decision was made, that going into the 21st century only to offer at home, or on-location family portraits.

Session Fees for Home or Location Family Portraiture
To bring equipment, set up lights, camera and construct the groups to create a stunning composition, there is a one time session fee of $250.00 for up to one hour. The session may be in your home, garden or on location at a local beauty spot, anywhere on the North Shore. Additional time, if needed, to break down smaller groups, or for individual portraits is charged at $100.00 per half hour. Edited images are created into a LoRes preview file and delivered electronically within 48hours
Wall Portraits
Finished portraits and enlargements for your wall are created on an a la carte basis, with sizes ranging from 11” x 14” all the way up to 30” x 40” in size and with a variety of print and mount finishes, the most popular of which is currently the canvas wrap. All images for printing are retouched and optimized for perfect results.
